Leather Work in Oliver, BC, Canada

My interest in leatherwork started back in the early seventies while living in the up and coming ski-town of Whistler. The first project I recall was a pair of moose-hide "muk-luks". A friend asked if I could make him a pair, and that was the beginning of many more projects. Jackets, vests, pants and skirts were popular. These garments had a wild and rustic flair, but they were laced up with leather hair braids, appliques and buck-stitching.

Summer horse-back riding got me going on western tack. Building a fine western saddle is a very satisfying project. I'm influenced by the tradition and excellence of the saddle-makers of the Northwest. A course with Jesse W. Smith, Professor of Saddlery at Spokane College for two decades, gave me a good foundation in the craft.

A good fitting, well made saddle is a pleasure for both the horse and rider.

Happy Trails!
